leaving real passport home, but bringing the copy?

i wonder if you can leave your original passport at home with your parent, but have a copy or two with you on a trip. do we need the actual passport with us? also, how much are the copies each? for both? ANDDD… do we buy the copies, or just photocopy it? i am really clueless at these things LOL

You cannot use a copy of the passport to travel – it has to be the original. In some places you might go, it would be mandatory to have the passport on your person at all times.
