Is a money pouch really necessary in Holland?
I’m talking about the little money ouch that hangs from your neck. I will be traveling to Amsterdam and Utrecht, and will primarily be using a debit card and credit card, while carrying very little hard cash.
Do i really need to carry a money pouch, or is a small crossbody bag ok.?
Here is the bag i will be using: http://www.radley.co.uk/en-gb/ProductDetails/?cid=RHND&pid=RHNDPOCKET&language=en-GB
Well I personally don’t carry a money pounch/bag and just take my regular bag (small one on my shoulder but which tucks under my arm at the same time if you get what I mean)
However I am not usually ambling around Amsterdam either so don’t get picked out as a tourist.
The thing is that pickpocketing is not pleasant but it is a ever present risk in any big tourist led city these days. There are gangs which make their living from pickpocketing and therefore as such it is always smart to conclean valuables close to your body and under clothing, plus also to seperate them so they are not all in one place.
The crossbody bag – well if you are wearing that at the back then don’t do it. If at the front then of course it’s a lot safer, but still keep contents inside the main body of the bag with the zip closed and preferably in an interior pocket. Don’t whatever you do put them in a exterior pockets
I think you have to decide what you feel comfortable with but personally I would go with the bag as long as you wear it carefully. If you don’t want to think or worry then go with the pouch.
